  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 1 Carrot, diced
  • 1 Celery Stalk, diced
  • 4 Cups Chicken Broth (Soup base)
  • 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour (Main ingredient for dumpling structure)
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder (Helps dumplings rise)
  • 1/2 Cup Milk (Adds moisture)
  • 1/2 Cup Butter (Provides rich flavor)
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt (For flavor enhancement)
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper (For a mild seasoning)
  • Fresh Parsley, optional for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the whole chicken in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer gently for 1 to 1.5 hours, until cooked through.
  2. Carefully remove the cooked chicken from the pot, let it cool slightly, and shred or cut into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Add the onion, carrot, and celery to the broth and simmer over medium heat until the vegetables are tender.
  4. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Add butter and milk, and mix well to form a dough.
  5. Using a tablespoon, drop small portions of the dumpling dough into the simmering broth and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Return the chicken pieces to the broth and serve warm. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

For best results, use a flavorful chicken broth. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
